trident, blue pot

Hello,

I have had this trident for about 5 years now. It was a bare stump from korea with no branches when it arrived during the winter months. It was in an ugly pot until this spring when I found this pot. I think it may be a bit too deep, but sometimes you gotta work what you can get.

You like it?

I like the tree; you've already identified the problem with the pot. (Add to the depth the fact that the feet are too delicate for the tree.)

Fortunately, pots are changed much more easily than trees.

Best wishes,
Carl

I had the pleasure of listening to Kaede talk about this tree in the chat. I dig the tree and the pot but not together as I stated earlier. A shallow ovaled pot and a little ground cover is what would do it for me Kaede, if your listening .

Matt,

N ice tree. Is the tree leaning a little to the left off of center, or is that one of theose optical illusions the camera leaves us with? John

hi John,

Probably a mix of things, the main one being that I am terrible at taking pictures.

Nice tree, Matt. Using Photoshop, I made the pot more shallow, and removed the feet, even diminished the outward flare of the rim, but it still doesn't complement the tree well, in my opinion. (The image is slightly rotated as has been mentioned)

I'd like to see an old, gnarly flowering Prunus mume or similar in this pot!

Excellent tree with a bright future I'm sure. Developing branches and ramification is up next I presume?

Because of the strong nebari and the formal upright style, I would go with a shallow rectangular pot (blue or white).

Good luck with this one!

Mmmm, nebari! Delicious!

I concur with the group re: the pot. Please share this tree's development as you get more ramification.

I think that the pot looks nice enough to stand on its own, and the tree needs something more unobtrusive.
