Thor Meets Marco
BEND ME TWIST ME
Thor meets marco
7/5/072 weeks to the day thor and I will meet Marco Invernizzi for the first time, ready and willing to accept our fate. Today, with much caution I gave thor his first hair cut. I needed to free up some time for all the final trimming, wiring and jin work that is still needed to be done. This juniper has just turned 8 years old, it stands 55cm from soil level and circumference around the base of the trunk is 22cm. Here’s a before and after’s shots. Then in 2 weeks time possibly to the hour I will post the finals for the completion of Thors 1st major transformation. CANT WAIT !!! I would appreciate any thoughts and ideas wanna be prepared for my session with marco. Thanks to all who checked out this post and stay tuned for the next episode of BEND ME TWIST ME

That is some seriously large wire on Thor.
Has he bent to your will yet, or does he still remain the defiant Thunder God?Joanie

A bit of advice about getting ready for Marco. We have had him out to our place the last two years to work on trees (8 or 9 days of work, lot's of trees).
1) Make sure the juniper is well watered and thus as flexible as it can be. (dehydrated junipers are more likely to break at thr wrong time). 2) Cean up and remove all dead foliage (all of the interior dead stuff). 3) Clean the bark and dead wood. 4) If thre is wire on the tree make sure that it is appropriately applied (correct size, anchoring and direction for bending), if you aren't sure then take it off. Marco also likes the fine wire to be done, but you may want to wait until the tree is pruned for detailing. 5) find the nebari (not so important on Junipers, but hey you can be surprised sometimes). 6. Make sure that you have wedges for getting the angle right, rubber hose pieces and good wire for guy wiring (he uses lots of guy wires on branches. If you take a well prepared tree you can end up with a tremendous start on a vision for the future in his workshops. If you take a tree that has not had the prep work done- you will spend your time withhim prepping the tree and not learn as much about making the tree go where you want it to go. Have fun, Marco puts on a good program. Very nice tree to work with. John

Joanie so far so good but aim to learn all about the live wires verses the dead wires thanks. Larry thanks yep he's my boy and im blessed to have him. i purchased him 12 months ago from "The Imagination Tree" bonsai nursery in the Dandenongs. "THE HILLS ARE ALIVE". These guys grow great sticks in pots. I was extremely lucky that i made arrangements for a tree 12 months in advance so that this session with marco was going to be a memorable 1.

I agree with Vons. Marco will love to work on your tree. Having worked with Marco, I know you will have a wonderful tree in the end. Don't worry, he will probably cut more than he leaves on the tree, but he is great at having and sharing his vision for the tree. If possible, have him in every year for a couple of years, you will learn a lot from a progression. I know I have.
