Chop no. three.

I almost tossed this chop out. The other plants had started to push spring growth soon in Feb. This stump did not. In fact it was bald. Not a green thing on it. The top looked dessicated and I thought it had dried out.

All of a sudden the temps pushed to almost 93 degrees for a couple of days and the darn thing sprouted. I think it is going to make it too.

The taller ones are not much either. I will chop one of them fairly soon now that it has some good sprout down low and the other will go into the ground to be trained as a formal upright, landscape tree, with the thought of removing later to display as bonsai.

This the base on the one that will go into the ground. It has a great spread and has some good surface rootage radially around the trunk. The tree is currantly planted on a flat piece of slate under the soil. I will put this one into the ground soon since the fence is done and I can lay out the backyard bench areas.
