Are These Anygood?

I always like the posts that are titles like this. You never know what you are going to see.

For me anyway I like to spend my free time perusing the local nurseries this time of year to find any deals on leftover stock at closeout prices. I colect my stock all winter and then have plenty of trees to work on come spring.

I found these today, Ran into who else, ripsgreentree behind some maples checking out the stock.

I bought these 5 tridents. They are in 5 gallon containers and had grown into the ground. They are large and the roots are bad. They look ok at the base but the very large roots are down low in the container and will have to be dealt with at spring repotting.

I will show the bases on each tree. Four of them will go into the ground and will be severly chopped for the future and shohin stock. One will be grown in the ground but will have four air layers taken off it this year before being chopped.

The Pepsi can is about 2 3/4" across. The trees are about 2" across. They were about 7' tall and Glenn and I had to cut some down to get it into my truck.

This is a 9' tall needle juniper that I bought as a new mother tree for the grove I posted a few months back that had been covered with the morning glories. The trunk on this one is about 2 1/2" across at the base and will be cut back hard this winter and then placed in the grove for next year. I will jin the top and wire some branches, maybe tomarrow. We still get some sun here and it may help it to recover faster if it gets a head start on winter.

Trident stock

Well yes I was there and I helped, a little.
The tree that I purchased today has already had the crown of the tree removed and the first root chop. I know all of the energy out of the top of the tree and also from the bottom of the tree. I am gambling that there is enough left to bud out in the spring, we will see. It was fun looking at older material and talking with al.
