Texas Scarlet Flowering Quince

This is my Texas Scarlet flowering quince, just springing into bloom. Typically, its first flowers appear in January, and it continues blossoming until the end of August. This year, the first flower open was a single, small pink flower on one sucker on the left side of the tree, down near the soil. Last year, this sucker had scarlet flowers of normal size. At first, I thought the flower would flush to its usual scarlet, as I have seen happen in other instances, but it has been this way for two weeks. I thought this was interesting and photographed it today to document it, and brighten the winter.

Ft,

Way to go, this is really charming. I was at a landscape supplier today and their scarlets had bloomed a little to. My jet trails are not even close to ready for the flowers, odd just 15 min away others are popping already.

Thanks. Quince are strange, aren't they? They are extremely vigorous. I used to keep some of the smaller ones I had in refrigerators. After about a month or so, they started growing in the dark.

Hey Fred This is a really nice looking little tree. I just wish i could find a specimen like this. I am not even sure if we can get the quince in SA.

Very nice tree, great pot, beautiful display, sweet photo.
The only thing I would suggest is the addition of a lil green leafy accent plant, maybe in a darker red pot(?).
