tanuki sugestions

heres a log i found on a river bank i would like some suggestions on what would be the best front. this log is aprox 3+ft long.

The third picture looks like a good front to me. Looks like something might live in there. Kind of big piece of wood though. Are you planning on using the whole piece? Gonna be a big tanuki.

Mr. Jarryd,

If I were considering this for a tanuki I believe I would be looking to cut the lower part off at about the red line indicated...Of course this would be somewhat dependant on the live material you are using...Also the driftwood smoothness in my opinion would require some serious carving to indicate a tree trunk that has weathered rather than have the appearance of being altered by tumbling or blasted with water...This is based on what I have seen here in the States...Perhaps wood weathers differently in Australia...That would be a decision you would need to make based on your own experience...

This is a beautiful piece of wood with the contorted grain and knoted areas...I really look forward to seeing what you do with it...Please keep us informed on the progress...
