Take it or leave it?

Tell me, does this fig look better with or without that bottom left branch? I'm not sure if I want to leave it there or not, because it only has one leaf and won't grow more. But if I leave it there it might grow more folliage over time.

So do I take it or leave it?

I would take it off. Not only is it far too low to look natural, it is distracting because the weight of the tree is unbalanced; it is heavier on the left side.

I agree...take it off. Also, same advice as on My Brother's Ficus. Do some pruning to encourage back budding. Also, make sure its fertilized.

Re: Take it or leave it?

I wouldn't cut it all the way. Try to distinguish a dormant bud and cut just above. I would do this just to see if you can have airroots coming from this branch. I think airroots would look great on this tree.
Also, like Earl already mentioned, start trimming to encourage backbuds to grow new leaves. I sometimes almost trim it way back. Ficus are quite strong and mine is now having all new very small leaves.
They are hard to kill, as long as you keep'm warm and humid in the sun (south window).
Not a professional but just m.h.o.

Eric

And also will help to get thicker the trunk. Later you can cut it.

Cut it off. That branch isn't going to fatten the trunk. It's too weak and it's in the wrong place.

Re: Take it or leave it?

I don't think it's necessary either, but the point about midway up the trunk where the three branches are coming off the trunk is another area that needs some refinement.

Try to reduce that area to two branches this year - a side and back branch, and later as the tree fills in, you can remove one of the remaining two. There isn't a lot of foliage right now.
