Styling Of A A Yew

Hi,

I dug up this yew from a abandoned nursery 2 1/2 years ago. It spend one year in the ground in my little growing field, one year in a large container, and in the beginning of this year I put it in this training pot. There was lots of new growth so I decided it was ready for styling. This is the before picture :

Last picture. Detail of the dead wood. I did this a while ago. So what do you think ? Pot suggestions are welcome. I was thinking about a cresent pot or a semi cascade pot. Any ideas ??

regards, René

very nice start. I like the back better bcos it shows the deadwood. And speaking about deadwood, i think that you have a lot to work on it, i mean adding texture and grain.Good luck

Well, i think the deadwood should be the front, as this is one of the main features of the tree, your pad's on the back pic. seem to me, to look growing down the way, they should look more like your avatar, but this could just be camera angle on the pic. as far as pot, the same colour, oval? It's a bit difficult when you look at pics. coz you only see them in 2D and cant get a feel for tree. This is just my opinion, so don't shoot the messenger. Cheers.

I agree the "back" not only shows the dead wood better but it also appears to have better lines. I also would choose the "back" for my Front.

Nice work!
