I've had this black pine for while now. I originally lived down south of sydney where the climate is much cooler but moved to central queensland for work reasons. I've got some of my trees frieghted up here and this one has been acclimatising through summer. I havent done alot with it except for abit of candle pinching and basic wiring . Was seeing how it coped with summer up here and it put on alot of growth budding 3 times since october. still averaging 30 degress celcius here for May.
Thinking literati and i have a pot been made for me ATM very rustic. The tree is approx 70cm tall and has a nice flare at the base. Any vituals and comments are most welcome as everytime I look at it I have an unclear path. noah. The pictures are too small noah. Can you make them any bigger, also with the brush background it makes it a bit hard to see whats what. Should be interesting growing out there! Good luck with them. Where abouts in CQ are you?

The Pine might do ok up there....not to sure, they do love the heat, but you wont get any dormancy maybe
? What other species do you have up there and how are they coping with the change in climate? Bouganvillias and the like should be good up there though. |

ok, heres some more pics, background maybe alittle better but still unsure how to post larger pics while keeping within required size limit? Anybody?. Will keep experimenting.
Peter i have various black pines up here, chinese privett (they love it), cork bark elm, trident maples, african olives , shimpaku and squmata junipers, a large imported microcarpa fig ummm.... what else? swamp cypress and celtis which go nuts here , another cypress not sure on name and cedar deodar. Bougs- yep they grow wild and crazy here. I dug up one with a 50cm trunk few months ago. Got along way to go but budding nicely. summers HOT here average 35+ and 90% humidity. Most cameras allow you to reduce the size of the photos (this is what I do), but its a pain because they come out too small sometimes. You could just use photo editing software, if you don't have it I'm sure somebody could edit the photos and send them back you so you can re-post.

Great stuff! I guess i thought that because it was sooo hot for soooo long up there the trees wouldnt like it! Wrong again hey! I am originally from Mackay, so i know what the summers can be like up that way! I havnt lived up there for 22 years and all i could grow up there (with my limited expierience back then) was Figs and i had 1 ch elm. When you dig your bougs up, do you bother with roots or do you just treat them as large cuttings? |
