 . I also think that it is not a good idea to joke about stealing anything. If an administrator took you seriosly you could be banned. Bonsai theft happens more often than I like to hear. I just cant imagine anyone stealing a bonsai. Its obviosly not the bonsai people like matt said, and they will probably die or be sold, which is a problem for the buyers who will get the blame if they are ever caught. BSF conventions actually do not put names under trees because with a name they can locate the owner to steal the tree. I know that sounds far-fetched but its possible.

Jokes are fine but......if you've ever had any bonsai stolen I can tell you....it ain't funny at all. I had 4 stolen before I put up my security system. If I ever caught the thief I do my best to see they went to jail.

I think we all can be guilty of saying something in jest that just does not come out the right way. It is a good lesson to remember.... it might not be that funny... here. Jokes about death usually do not go well at a funeral! Jokes about someones trees do not go well here! just my .02 cents Jay

Unfortunately, it seems as though bonsai and fun just don't mix. Or, is it that bonsai practioners are just no fun? Who knows.
Having your bonsai stolen (or anything else for that matter) is no fun, but it happens - probably all too frequently. It ain't a crime to poke fun at it - that's what makes some of us human - thank God. Fish.
