Spruce from collected material
I purchased this Spruce tree yesterday for $15. I think it's was collected but i'm not sure i got it at a bonsai store here in denver. It was outside the green house without hardly any soil laying on it's side and looked like a Charlie Brown tree. I brought it to work since that was where i was going when i purchased it. Everyone was like "nice tree" very sarcasticly. I would get all excited and say I know it's perfect. Just planted it in a deep training pot yesterday and wired it down for stability I would like any suggestions as to what to do. I was thinking a semi cascade or a slanting. the tree in the pot is a picture of i made to see how i wanted to plant it.
Thanks, Todd |

Maybe lay the whole tree over on it's side or lay it on a rock and make a semi-raft style using the long branches on what would be the right side of the tree from your first picture. It would look like the tree got knocked over when it was young, came to rest on a rock and developed two or three trees from it's branches.

I know that people have shown pictures of trees that have fallen like this and become rafts in nature. It would be cool if we could find one of those. Or someone could do a virtual if they got really ambitious.

I would go for the raft. I have some trees that i will this year plant as rafts, it will be interesting to see how they grow.
