Some of todays fun.

To bring you all up to speed, last July I started some Elm airlayers. These were multiple limbs, full cambiam peal, gathered together into one pot. Late in October I noticed that they were rooted so I cut them off the parent plant and droped them into a 15 gal. nursery can for the winter. I was totally suprised to find the masses of roots when I unpotted them today. I did not use any spagum moss or any of the other suggested airlayering techniques, just KLN root jell and my own mixture of bonsai soil. From the day that I started these airlayers to today is only 7 months.

Impressive Rip! I've seen good rootage before with air-layers, but this is indeed some very fine roots in a short amount of time.

Bonsai fields

I am still growing Bonsai to the best of my ability but the owner that I worked with for so long has come to nothing. I don't even know if there are any of the trees that we created still alive. Below is more of todays fun. These pictures are of a juniper airlayering that was removed and repotted today.

Hi Glenn,
Haven't seen you around much lately. Sorry to hear the deal with the former land owner went south. So how is mister roots... aka Glenn...aka Ripsgreentree doing. Are we likely to see you growing some stock on your own? Might have some takers here

Whoa Rip,
that's a waste, huh?

to bring you others up to speed quote from rips from 2002...

Pass it along

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The first week of the relationship with my boss He gave me two pickup truck loads of trees in nursery containers. Filled the back yard of my Appartment right up. This was 18 years ago. This spring I propigated about 2,500 trees for him.
When we got together we knew several men who would not give you a leaf off of there tree much less a tree. Today none of these men has any trees left and they didn't give them away or sell them they just lost them. My boss and I have more trees than any one should have.
My point is, "the man who is generous will always have more than he can give away" I have seen this and I believe it. I also try to live by it.

Not a total loss.

While it is sad to see so much go to waste, all of the diffrent species of material has come back to me. After the break up various people gave trees back to me, so that now I have parrent material of all that was on the property. This means that with time I can duplicate every thing that I had before. We will see how things go.
