smoke tree project update
I potted this earlier this year and had the same tree on here last year still in it's nursery container back then. Now it's decision time, what do I keep and what do I remove?

Hello Chappy...
My inclination (without seeing the rest of the structure) is to keep that strong lowest branch in the middle and develop your crown from that point forward. Of course, you may have to consider changing your planting angle and pot choice in the future... but it would introduce taper, and simplify the structure. You'll notice with most trees which truly entice a viewer that there is not a riot of structure. There is simplicity... a single main trunk line for the eye to meander along. It's a very nice start though, I'll be interested to see what choices you make with it. Kindest regards, Victrinia |
