Red Leaf A small change makes a big difference?

Hi everyone...

This is a needle juniper I have had in training for several years now... Its got a ways to go but its on the right track. I made a small change to the orientatioin of the right lower branch.

The pictures are not the greatest but... What do you think? Did this small change make the appearance of the tree better?

Hi Nick,

Nice tree!

Personally I think its an improvement, however the branch directly above the one you just altered bothers me a little. All the others seem to have movement to varying degrees, whereas this one looks very static and is drawing my eye to it in a "negative" way. Perhaps introducing some movement into said branch will improve the tree as a whole, further?

All the best,

Aaron

HEY made the whole picture clearer ! But yeah that branch above it does seem to be a little light and or young. Just a thought. GREAT TREE !

Hi Nick,
I played around with your nice tree and I removed that branch you lowered. It is in the inside curve and by removing it IMHO give the tree more movement.
What do you think?

Nick,

I like the change. This tree looks quite different in person, I like this one a lot.

I see what you mean.. what this picture does not show well is that that branch is actually more forward than the lower branch. (A top view would help explain better)

So it 'real life' is seems to fair a bit better... However, I like your idea about adding some movement to it.. I'll try a couple things out. thanks alot!

John...

A very interesting idea.... Without the branch the curve in the trunk is very focused upon. The trunk line seems to really stand out. and like you said more movement

I'm a bid concerned with the effect of making the trunk "look thinner" and a less of a mature tree. Maybe this is its feature in a few years when the trunk thickens

thanks

nick

Thanks Will...

I really appreciate that. It is funny how some trees don't seem to translate as well in pictures. But I suspect its just the skills of the person taking the picture (me and my cheapy digital)

I see what you mean about the branch being forward in relation to the branch above. As well as bringing in more movment to the branches on the right I would like to see the front with a slight anti clockwise rotation so the branch on the right wasn't so forward as you pionted out. Just wonder if this will help the movment.
