I finally met my match. It was a very humbling experience to be confronted with such splendor.

As you kneel in front of this magnificent tree remember to say
" I am unworthy of such great material if I am not experianced enough to keep it alive for more than 5 years" Repeat several times...

Kong, A picture of you kneeling in front of "that" tree would definitely be very suggestive and worthy material for someones blackmail archive.

Thumbs up funny

Without mentioning any names, a cypress such as this was taken to a big time show in Cal. It was collected in Florida so a long journey. The tree was benched and positioned in its proper display area with one strange feature. A well known bonsai teacher strolled by to say high to his old friend and remarked about the tree and why did it have a white hanky draped over a portion of the bc bonsai. At the perfect moment the owner gently tugged at the hanky removing it from the tree only to reveal the very proud appendage attached to the trunk. I was told the room paused in horror and wild laughter ensued immediately after the teacher demonstrated his approval with a polite bow toward the tree. It was named 'Moby' that evening at the cock tail party.

I think the appendage needs a little carving to smooth off the rough edges.
I think it woudl look a little more realistic then

Seriously tho, how does a tree develop something like this? I have never seen anything quite like it.

It was a bit chilly out that day so.... Of all the trees one inspects, there seems to be various abnormal growth behavior present in at least 10% of the population of bc's. Some have enormous knees. Some twist. Some are bent. Some are hallow. Some are infested with bromiliad colony's distorting normal growth. Some have unexplained 'wanger' looking growths.
Reasons for these changes could be heat (fires), genetic, borers and termites, bromiliads and other epiphytes, poor soil and shallow soil, drought and flooding, possessed bonsai people, fungi, stinging insects, and the list goes on.

Harry, will you at least tell us how you measure up? No picture required...we will take your word for it as always.
