Shall keep you posted as to how these trees turn out, bought quite a few from this incredibly enthusiastic dealer in this way, and so far so good, they arrive on the 25th of this month, can't wait [as they say].

Well, I'd say Birches are easy to keep but grow fast, and backbud well, but they do like their water, and prefer semi shade when young.
But I was surprised by the size of the leaves on my mame in its frst year, they were huge! Thankkfully they take to leaf pruning-that sorted them out

I find I have to leaf prune more than once in a season.
I have birch in the ground and they are virtually impossible to grow as mame', due to the ridiculous speed at which they grow. Jerry Amsterdam

OK, I'll try to do a pic of my first tiny birch tomorrow, reckon if they are grown in pots, leaf-size is easy to control, just so long as the tap root has been pruned correctly, it's a two year old seedling, selfsewn, which grew in the ground of a yamadori Scots pine.

Tiny birch
So here it is Larry, the tiny two year old, shall end up as either a mini semi-cascade or literati.
BETULA. Genus: Betulaceae. Common name: Silver Birch. Size: Height, 5cm [2“]. Container: Square, semi cascade, ivory-white matt-glazed, Japanese "Tokoname" pot. Width, 5.5cm [2 ¼”], height, 6cm [2 ½”]. This bloke turned me onto the birch family, who said small is not beautiful? ozzerbon ![]()
