Shoots on silver birch broom, not too close
Right, i hope you all appreciate that I endured the worst of our weather and risked getting the digi wet for this
![]() Heres a pic of one of the buds that is quite healthy looking and on the move! Followed by a pic of the head from above-note one shoot left accidentally long, and no growth from the bud yet!

Well, i have posted several pics already in 'My Other Silver Birch has gone Bananas.'
I posted these pics here because Will Heath wanted to see them, now that I've posted them he's not even commented!

I actually asked for pictures now and pictures a few weeks from now, so I am withholding my comments until then. I would suggest having your concaves sharpened. Nice training pots, is that potting soil again?

Larry....I really don't understand the point your trying to make.
Listen to these guys who obviously have a lot more experience than you, they're here to help if you want it accept it. Cutting back too close to buds is asking for trouble, always allow for some die back. |

Larry, it would seem when you posted this same tree on another forum, you got exactly the same comments about cutting too close. Could it really be that everyone but you is wrong?

The tree is in a compost I mixed from various ingredients, including perlite and cactus mix. The container, which you cant actually see, was a mushroom crate i got from work-its the right dimensions for a training pot and I get them free! Unfortunately as it holds quite a lot of compost(much more than i had!) i had to mix it with some gaden soil, which worked!
