Shohin Larch

This tiny Larch was collected in September 2004 and than left to esstablish in its new enviroment. The tree is about 13 cm (5,1") high and has a trunkdiameter of about 2 cm (0,8"). Sadly I don't have any clear pictures after collecting.

I've made a virtual future vision in paint and wired the tree according. I also transplanted it in a pondbasket to get a better rootball.

How do you see this tree?? Am I going in the right direction??

Thanks for a comments/critics,

Wessel

I wish I could have a larch here in Florida. I think you have a good plan weeijk. Somehow the size of the needles in larches make me think they would be better fit for shohin than pines are.

First photo is of last year, but in this years new growth, something looks to be going wrong with this larch. Some off the needles curl for some reason. This is happening only to this Larch, I have 20 or so in my collection.
Has anybody see this happen before? Is it a infestion of some kind? What can/should I do about it?

Please help, whould be a shame if I would lose this little one.

Thanks in advance, Wessel

Larry it is in a half shade/half sunny possition (gets sun from 15.00 till 19.00)
I have larches that stand from 11.00-18.00 in full sun.

Don't think sun conditions are the problem, but..........what else??

Thanks for your inside,

Wessel
