Unhappy Shimpaku Problem

I found the shimpaku in the attached picture at a local nursery and I loved it at first sight because of the dead wood and its potential. It is 17 inches tall, 10 years old.

At home I realized that I didn't have a clue about what to do with it!. Please help me with suggestions.

I am sorry. The picture was too big. I'll try again.

This photo is too small to work with, Renato, so you may want to upload something larger.

I have moved this photo to the general section because this is not "show caliber" at this time. This may be what is giving you difficulty.

If you'd care to upload a larger photo, we can revisit that decision.

Regards,

Matt

I've read more conflicting information about Shimpaku Juniper than any other three varieties of tree or bush. It seems to be a real issue as to whether it is a species or not. Also, I have read that some varieties of Shimpaku are just about unusable for bonsai. I got started in California with what was called "Blue" Shimpaku and liked it alot, but it seems to be quite different from what you gentlemen are showing, which I take to be "Green".

'Fraid I don't have much of value to contribute here. My mind is clouded on the subject of Shimpaku. I have gone over to J. procumbens, which seems to be a subject more easily understood by simpletons like myself.

Glenn, thank for this help. I bought this shimpaku at Mr. Fujimoto's nursery. He has a good collection.

The first problem I have is with the lower right branch, and I guess the only solution is to jin it. It has a curve--that I showed in the attaches picture--and it seems it has no hope.

More info is comming!

Glenn, I continue, The apex is showed in some detail in the picture attached here. It is very messy. I show the direction of the main branches. As you see, I need a lot of help.

Best wishes, and thanks again
