Basically the technique involves wiring out a long whip of shimpaku juniper and then crumple it into a tangled ball. As it grows an interesting shape is developed. It's to bad they take so long to grow into mature specimens, but like Matt said they do make nice shohin size bonsai. Here's a nica example of a small one. Fertilizer helps to push them. __________________ GaryS
