[QUOTE=pootsie]You got some mad photoshop skillz, heyMikey!
(or do you gimp?) heypootsie; "Well, that's a real good question and I'm glad you asked me" (I got that phrase from the presidential debates). As a matter of fact I use MS Paint for 90 % of the virtuals, IrfanView for fine rotations, and Xatacom for color correction and occasional file compression. It helps to have an inventory of hundreds of fine trees, pots and stands on file to pull from. I tried gimp once but saw no significant advantage over Paint (in my cursory evaluation) although I am sure it has more capabilities than the Billy Gates program; I was just too lazy to learn something new. I am convinced that most people can create quality virtuals using only freeware (I am also one cheap S.O.B) but they just need to put forth sufficient effort and familiarize themselves with all the program features (Paint only has ~25 features). Now that I have revealed all my secrets I expect to see a plethora of fine virtuals showing up on this forum. When this happens and I am challenged for my position as forum virtualoso, I will be forced to seek advanced training in Germany at the Peenemunde School of Digital Graphics and Rocketry under the tutelage of the Professor Uwe Zeiler (Merlin), the foremost expert on bonsai virtuals. "Unlike Andy and Al I will not go away, I will stay here and continue to hammer away at the relentless pusuit of (virtual) truth." Last edited by heymikey : 20-Nov-2004 at 05:38 PM. |
