Scots pine ideas
Just pulled 3 miles of wire off (quite late in doing so I might add) and Im trying to decide where to go next. Included is a front and rear view - IM trying to decide if I want more of a full bodied Xmas tree appearance or use the other side as the front an try to expose more of the trunk line and taper.
I still think i need to try and get that first branch down a little more to even out the tree but with the movement of the trunk I actually like it being that high.. Any thoughts? |

hey pal so far nice. i like 47 as a front. i gotta tell you the only reason you would do a dense christmas thing is if your trunk and branches need to be hidden. there is nothing sexier than an exposed tree with the right amount of negative space. only my opinion.

If it were mine, I'd let the lowest branch grow unrestrained for a while to give it greater girth.

I agree with the others, 47 is the better front. Ultimately I would probably take off the lowest branch (the one on the left in 47). With 47 as the front the tree is potted in a good position, but I believe that the #1 branch should usually point towards the far side of the pot, not the near one.
Also, I'd wire the lowest branch on the right down considerably and do some general cleaning up--get rid of any small inner branches that are growing the wrong direction or otherwise have no future, and those that are cluttering up the trunkline. Then you can better see what to do next. As always, I probably don't know what I'm talking about, so take it with a pound of salt. ![]()
