Re: San Jose Juniper

I am amazed at what you have done in such a short time. The grow and shaping are wonderful. I say keep the the present shape but expose the trunk like many are saying. Great Tree!

Re: San Jose Juniper

This one's a real beauty. I like especially the 2nd pic, after wiring. Here's a virtual that shows the tree in the current shape, without the first branch and with some pinching.

Re: San Jose Juniper

It reminds me a lot of another tree from Mini-bonsai.com.

Re: San Jose Juniper

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I won't do anything but keep an eye on wire bite until fall to let the tree recharge. But I agree that the primary branch foliage is now hiding the best part of the tree and has to be changed.

Al,

Your virtual is great. I never saw that in this tree, but that's what makes this forum so great.

Thanks again everyone.

By the way... What's a tree worth? I paid $35 for this tree. Was it worth it?

David

Re: San Jose Juniper

Sounds a great bargen to me I would have paid that and about $80. more if that was the asking price.
Al my question on the vertual is. How are the limbs on the tree going to be moved to match your vertual? What limbs are you going to cut off and which buds or branches are you going to use to create this new straiter taller tree?
Just wondering.........ripsgreentree

Re: San Jose Juniper

Worth it? Most definititely!

I might not have bought it myself, but only because I never would have seen the potential for the tree that you created in the raw material. You've got a great eye!

If I'd seen its potential, I would have paid $35 or $100, for that matter.

Cheers,
Old Mister

Re: San Jose Juniper

I got a kick out of the thread running last week on the value of trees and couldn't resist stirring the pot.
