I just realised I should've potted it more to the left as it now seems unbalanced with the pot. Sorry 'bout that.

Very interesting, Zeb!

I agree with your assessment, and I agree that your virtual works better. I still see the bow curve as a "problem" - but it does seem to be reduced in magnitude by your approach.

Thanks for pointing that out.

Oh...and sweet virtual, by the way!

Zeb, Thanks for the virtual. It does give the tree a more natural, consistent flow and brings it more into balance. There may be an air layer in this one's future after all.

OMC, The branch necessary to do your design probably could not be put there, but it also reduces the flaw.

Thanks

Hi Bonitah,

Interesting tree. Maybe another take on what to do with it(I agree that it should be potted deeper to layer the first bends) is perhaps develop the foliage on the left side of the apex. I remember a tree on this forum that we were all gawking at that had just such a bow curve but with exquisitely developed branches on the outside of the curve.

I don't know if that's possible with this tree though.

Hi David,

I really like what you've achieved from such dodgy material.

The trunk has many quite sharp turns in a
limited space followed by a long "calm" curve

Would this be the solution accentuate the bow with a turnbuckle. I have just shown the tree after bending, but the foliage could be grown out to fill in the crook more.

Regards,

TB

ps it was difficult to virtual the curve, I hope I haven't distorted the length of the trunk too much

You have succeeded in getting rid of the reverse taper look. I like what you have done.
