Buzz, that's some great material!
I have/had a rosemary too. Don't know if it's dead or just dormant, 'cause I thought rosemary was evergreen.. Do you?
Anyway, you've got a nice tree coming. Keep posting on it's progress.

Well, it sure was cheap. I got mine for 6 €/$ at a normal nursery so it had eight trunks. I removed one, it survived, but the rest died of draught.

Rosemary

Buzzy; When you are working with rosemary here is something to think about. This material will not bud back into old wood at all. Any limb that is bare is dead becaus it will not produce any more living growth. But if you have green needles on a branch you can get new buds to come from these needles. This can make stiling difficult but also rewarding. Here is a picture of a rosemary that was about the size of yours when I started working with it 10 years ago.

Pot is not too small at all. You will probably find a smaller pot to put it in one day. great find on the rosemary. Haven't tried it as bonsai material.

To get bark like that simply takes time. The older a tree gets the more likely it will do that to its trunk.

I have attached the only rosemary I have seen at our club. It has been attached to driftwood.
