Procumbens 'nana' Styling Sugestions

This is a Juniper I've had for about a year and a half. The first winter I had it, it lost a weak spindley would be apex from the top. I just wantedto hear some insights on whether yall think I should just jin the little nub reamaining from the branch. Or, should I graft another branch on. I've been pondering which way to go for a couple months.

Whimsical,

I would go for a jin, or complete removal of the stub, rather than grafting.

I would imagine a graft could (would) leave a scar right where you don't want it, and besides, the tree looks to be the right shape for a nice low semi-cascade anyway.

Regards,

I believe you will need to jin it because it is likely dead by now. When you take all the green off a branch that will positively kill that branch. Sometimes new growth will start at the bottom of the branch but that doesn't seem to be happening here.

Also, I would consider tilting this tree to a cascade position since the base is curved to the left and looks like it could support a cascade.

My thoughts... I would Jin the branch, and then below, I would graft a toothpick sized branch for an apex, it may take some time to get it big, but then I would work for a full cascade..., I think it has a nice start, and would be a great tree in 10 years. just my opinion..

Kzitz,
Thats kind of what I was thinking, so that the apex would, in a couple years, acquire an abrupt taper, but not be too thick, giving it a look like since it has grown higher, the stronger wind has beat the living cr@p out of it.

About the full cascade, I don't know if I see that vision. Do you mean a windswept full cascade? Maybe one of yall could do a virtual to show me what you had in mind. I'm real picky about cascades. I think a lot of them look forced and unnatural.

BTW, there is actually a branch coming out of the back from the curve directly to the right of the first apparent branch. Its just blocked out by the brnach, and my attempt to clean up the foliage lines in that poor picture. The Florida mid-day sun is a pain to shoot pictures in.
