Procumbens Nana Restyling

I also thought I'd share this tree I worked on a few months back. I originally purchased it off of Ebay potted in a panda pot. As soon as I received the tree I repotted into the rectangle bonsai pot in the first picture and left the tree the same. Well, the tree just seemed too busy so earlier this year I cut it back quite a bit and styled into a literati.

Here is the way the tree looked as of February.

I ment to say bushy not busy. By bushy I meant too much foliage and too skinny of a trunk. Here is the tree as it looks today.

Nice Gil. The trunk has wonderful movement but is quite skinny. The only negative I see with this tree is the amount of foliage seems a little too heavy for the skinny trunk.

Just my opinion.

Nice work, well improved though I do think Daves opinion should be looked at, I think his suggestion makes an even greater improvement.

Gilbert,
I like the direction you have gone with this tree! It is a great improvement. I do agree with David and think his virtual is on the money.

Thanks for sharing

How delightful. In your other posting (Saturday night) I mentioned that I looked at the material before looking at the styling. Well, I wasn't quite sure where you were going to take this one, but when you said literati..... well, I became even more sceptical! BUT ~ I really really like what you've done, and thanks for sharing this with us.

Really awesome work.

I like the way you are going with this tree, but........
As David and others said, i would seriously thin out the foliage mass (you could even loose a branch or two and still have a nice literati)
Keep us posted

Mike

Thanks for your responses. I agree about amount of foliage. But If I were to reduce it that much I would feel that it should be in a smaller pot. I think the amount of foliage on the tree the way it is balances with the pot.

But all in all, I think it could still be reduced like David said. Thanks for your input!
