You probely could use just the left branch (on #38525) and create a semi cascade.

How tall is this guy now?

I think if you are interested in growing a mame, you might be better off with a tree that isn't already as extensively styled as this one. Also, think about picking up one of those dwarf azaleas for mame too

its about 15in. to 16in.the reason i was considering was because the movement it appears to have is because of large branches that were removed and the movement is sharp and not very smooth. i just got this guy for 40.00$.the main reason is the taper of the trunk line its nice and stout at the base and thins out rather quickly.i was thinking of trunk chopping it just above were the trunk starts to thin out . but ive only been doing this a short while and dont always see the whole design picture . thanks for any advise i know i need it!!! i dont want to do something that will ruin a potential good tree. thanks edion

This tree has a lot of potential and to take away the already beautiful training would be kind of sad.

I wouldn't chop this. I would enjoy it the way it is. Keep training it and let it fill out some of the top branches. I really like it the way it is.

Why would you want to chop this I can see the sharp bend in the trunk, but once the foliage has filled out some you could easily position it to obscure the kink from view. i'd keep with this somewhat triangular shape for the canopy and look forward to it flowering! I think the first branch on the left need something doing to it though, wirring down a touch with some movement introduced to it.

Actually after the branch that comes forward, the rest are in the wrong places, the node lenght is bigger as you go up, this is a good candidate for a change. a diagonal cut above the first branch, that would leave the second branch as part of the tree being removed is where I would go, but that is a big cut other wise you would remove the bottom branches too( to big) for where it would be going for design, grow new branches would work better. Not sure about layering azaleas, but you if you could layer off the top, and have 2, or go the cutting route, that works for sure, and you could have a bunch of azaleas. But the left, right, left, left ,doesn't work all that well, go for the mame.

I think there may be more branches in the upper parts than Mr. Speedy may be seeing? 2D is quite restrictive in judging a plant. How about some views from at least two different angles if this is true?
