They look like Japanese White Pine (five needle pine) you can identify them for yourself by counting the needles in a bundle and looking for the white stomatic stripe the length of each one.

These pots look much too small for what I am assuming is a mediterranean climate. They usually want a cool winter. I don't know how they'll do there. Pines don't like soggy soil but I don't know how else you're going to get enough water into the pot unless you water two and maybe three times a day in summer, trim them back or up-pot them.

The second tree (one on the right in the last photo) seems to have a better ratio of foliage to pot size, but that first one... !

Regards,

Matt

Yep ! They have five needles on each litlle brunch !
I took a look around and saw that i shouldn't repot until late automn. Do you think they can handle the lack of space? Espessialy the one with the wild roots.
Thanks
Fanis

Hello Fanis,

They look to be Chinese imports....? If that be the case then they must be repotted immediately, as they would be growing in a dense clay ground.

As to when to repotting, some of us over here in Holland no longer adhere to the times when and when not to repot, and go ahead and do so as we wish, especially works when one is upsizing the pot/s and try to cause little or no root disturbance.

If you can buy akadama in Greece then go for that type of soil, but your pines will need some kinda shade protection from the Summer heat.

Success....Nigel
