bonsaiTALK Hint: Did you know you can double click any bonsai term on this page for its definition?

Rich

Back buds are popping out all along the branches. No fungus or disease so far. It's in a poly house to keep it warmer and dryer. So far so good. There's something about pines, you know?

Hey Brian,
Awesome job, I can see exactly where you are going with this.. and I like it!! Looks like you are using aluminum wire, may I suggest copper, or are my eyes messing with me? I am glad you like this tree and in 5 years it will be a stunning tree...

Hey Bruce,

Patience young grasshopper!!! We'll send ya another one sooner than later.....

It's great to see the progress and discussion on ponderosa's...maybe I will get around to posting my 3 new ones from this last week....

Hi Brian,

This is looking real good. I was scratching my head for ages trying to find the tree in the wood in the other pictures. Gotta love raffia. I can even bend Japanese maples without them going "snap".... well almost lol.

Keep us posted on this one.

All the best,

Aaron

Bruce - Excellent! Glad to hear it is thriving. Your environment is most unique, and if you can get it to work, all the more power to you. Something about pines? Yes, and I am still learning and loving it.

JG - Didn't some cantankerous old timer once lecture you about posing newly collected material - before you know it will live Well, ok, these will live. And they are quite nice. Make sure you post all 4 new pines - the lodgepole and the styled pondy as well as the two new and unique collected pondys. They'll make Bruce's mouth water! Hey, post my new one too - I don't have a pic and need something to remind me... (Sorry Bruce...)

Sorry...

To everyone- Would there be any interest in an Internet-based discussiion group on Ponderosas? This would allow everyone to discuss the from collection-to-finished bonsai transformation of collected material...

Yes Jason, that's aluminium wire, supported by some turnbuckles and guy wires. My wiring skills still suck, so the aluminium wire tends to be a lot easier on the tree, if you get my drift....As I get better at handling it, I'll transition to copper I'm sure.

Thanks for the encouragement.
