welcome. I am nt sure why others have not yet responded, IMHO, perhaps two reasons:
1. the trees are very undeveloped and could be planted in the ground to growfor a few years
2. the pink background is difficult to create virtuals against

Enjoy

#1 - this probably is not quite the front. The main trunk movement appears to be away from the viewer, but it's hard to tell in a single view.
Try turning it clockwise about 30 degrees and take another shot in front of a clean background if you want a virtual.

#2 - it appears that the podocarpus has reverse taper in the trunk, or perhaps this is just an unfortunate angle. From this view it looks about 1/3 wider at the top than the base.

You could rectify this by cutting it back to the point where the reverse taper begins (first branch on the right) and plan on making a small tree, or planting it out and letting it grow freely for at least a few years and probably several.

Regards,

Matt

I find windswept to be very difficult as all of the pieces need to work together to tell a convincng story -- like, if the branches are all going in one direction, why is the trunk straight and pointing stright up -- it is certainly possible but difficult to make a coherent story and it won't happen overnight.

hi there, I learned a trick from Ed Trout that works on trees like the first you could start by developing a topiary type top on it and as it starts to develop start cutting horizontal pads by cutting horizontally into the topiary type top.
This will give you a pleasant tree to look at while it develops. I have done this on Ficus nerifolias with great success.
On the Podocarpus you may consider carving taper and a lot of driftwood and just keep the frirst branch and develop a structure from there and make it into something wild.
