bonsaiTALK Hint: Did you know you can double click any bonsai term on this page for its definition?

Please post your photography setups (Mike_P?)

I thought Show and Tell would be the best place for this request. I remember Mike posting his setup some time ago on this or a different forum, but I have lost track of it. I know there are others that have nice ideas as well.

Thanks,

Big disclaimer, this setup isn't used for bonsai photography yet... I use it mainly for macro and nihontô photography (and not that much in the last 12 months)

Cameras:
Leica SL - 35mm film with assorted bits of glass (50mm , 80mm, 100mm)
Rollei SL66 - medium format film with assorted bits of glass (80mm, 150mm, 250 mm)
Canon Powershot A70 P&S digital

Accesories:
Manfrotto tripod, 195 head with step-ups for various camera formats, Flexible trigger, objective mount plate, ...
Set of filters
Softbox
Custom made macro photography stand.

The custom stand is basically a plexiglas pane on feet with various light fixtures attached to it. If the camera is positionned exactly at the vertical of the object to be photographed, and the object is on the pane, then the object will seem to float in the void without any reflection
(explanation here). I'm pretty sure a similar stand could be done for bonsai photography... it might even cost less than the one in the article (bonsai do not require different light types to show details).

I might try and adapt the setup for fun during the summer.

Hope that helps,
Mike
