Mastich-tree is also domestic here. Interesting plant. I have one that I dug in january. It is stagnating since then. It is not dead, but also it didn't start with new sprouts.

It has nice future. In my area they like a well drained soil and a lot of water.
It is difficult to tell from one picture but your tree, as it's a mature tree, have some problems with the branches arrangement and thickness, I would leave it as is till it began to sprout (without your hand... )
I see you did imported the Chinese pots.

When I collected it in January I removed most of the crown (big branches) to increase survival possibilities. I don't shape tree at this point, but next year, thats why the crown is messy. I hope it would survive...

BTW hand is not mine, but boyfriend's, I have little bit gentiler hands

One more " Mastic" tree in training, height 50cm (20") trunk at base 5cm (2"), first picture from 09 20004, second from 05 20005.

Btw, Marija maybe some day will shake hands…
