A picture of my wisteria before and after 16 years of training
hi everyone
I'm new to this forum and I would like to show you a picture of my wisteria that has flowered for the first time after 16 years of training.Up until now it has produced only a few racemes. This is one of the first bonsai I started and I have had to learn as I have gone along (getting it to flower being one of the most puzzling aspects) and consequently there have been a few cringing mistakes. It has just been put into it's first proper pot having tried half a dozen different shapes along the way (to try to make it flower). I wil include a "before" picture taken when it was uprooted from the garden in 1990 (again because it wouldn't flower!) Unfortunately we have just had a mini heatwave which made the flowers very brittle and the thunderstorm that followed knocked off the top florets off all the racemes. I have also removed about half the leaves as the repotting caused a fair amount of unintentioinal root damage. I'd welcome some opinions in favour or otherwise! I would say it was well worth the wait & hard work.
It looks great ! I am only just starting 2 wisterias (Don't you just love buy 1 get 1 free?) Dii you keep it outside during winter as it's in a pot or keep it somewhere sheltered? Caro

Dave, welcome to bonsaiTALK. Not bad for your first post
![]() That is a gorgeous tree! I hope it finds a more suitable pot, perhaps a less wide, deeper dark blue glaze? I'm about to make a trade to acquire a wisteria. What's the secret to flowering? pootsie |

Looks great, and welcome. The pot doesn't bother me much, and the tree seems to like it!
I lightened the image to better see it; it is a green glazed pot.
