Karl, great job with the design! I like both the front and side views. I think I'd have to see it in person to know which I prefer more. I will be over in an hour

A couple questions if you don't mind:

1. Do you find that you need to let the wood dry out before carving, or is it a multi-step process, roughing in and carving later?

2. Is that friction tape or rubber you have wrapped around the trunk?

Regards,

Matt

Karl, thank you for the pictures. Beautiful!!
I have a 'Birds Nest Spruce' that looks a little like yours. I was advised to wait till the first branch got stronger to remove the original apex as you did. Should I wait or is it safe to cut back as you did?

Defintely like the front that you picked. Fantastic material to work on and great job. Obviously it has been collected from the mountains?

Shari work

Ask 1. is a rubber Tape. I use to be able to bend the hose around strong branches better.
Ask 2. I always work on the fresh wood, it better than at the dry wood,
it is natural more. Pictures of Shari works.

Karl T.
