Peninsula Bonsai Club Show

I just uploaded a gallery of 100 photos from the Peninsula Bonsai Club show over this past Mother's Day Weekend.

This is Kazuki's club, and he had a great spread of mame and shohin bonsai there.

The gallery is here:

http://pictures.bonsaitalk.com/show...cat=539&thumb=1

Kazuki, maybe you could pass along to your club members the address? I also want you to know that I obscured the exhibitor's names to protect their privacy. If they want to take credit, we can certainly add them back into the description.

Thanks to you and your club for sharing all of these great trees with us!

Regards,

Matt

Awesome photos, Matt. Thank you! I tried to get some shots of our club show but the background - which looked quite nice in person - had a bit of metalic thread woven in that was a disaster with the flash.

Kazuki - great mame display!

One question. Did detail wiring go out of fashion and nobody remembered to tell me?

Cheers,
Carl

Hi Carl

I didn't use a flash at all at this show, but it had some skylights. Instead, I use a tripod and a longer exposure - but that isn't an option with all cameras. It was ISO400 and about 1/8 sec at around F/5.6

This is an older club (I think their pin said 51 years, definitely a lot of clip & grow!

Regards,

Matt

Hey!!! Thanks Matt!!!! great pictures!! i will definately pass the link to my fellow club members, they will enjoy these pictures a lot!!

The club is 51 years old, but this show was actually the 50th one because we skipped a year when the founder, Ken Sugimoto, passed away.

Oh, this is Ken's club? Wonderful!

Matt: I probably should have shot off a tripod sans flash and just adjusted the color balance. Next time...

Best regards,
Carl

Excellent photos, Matt. Thanks. Trees are all very nice.

Kazuki, the mame display is nice, but look a bit "heavy" on the right side, like it's going to tip over. Maybe put some heavier elements (rocks, larger pots) on the left side to balance it out? I love the flower on top. Great job.

Might be the wide angle lens, and the fact that I tilted the camera to avoid putting the display in front of an unfortunate "joint" in the background support. There's another picture in the gallery of the display alone

I think the handmade stand came out great.

Matt
