Patience and Bonsai
I'm sure everyone has heard those two words many times, both here and anywhere bonsai is practiced. I'm sure I've posted this juniper procumbens here before in the ninteen months that I've had it. Just thought I would post it again now showing a time line. This is the tree at purchase from a local bonsai nursery.

This is one of my favorite pictures of this tree. When I bought this tree it had all mature foliage, the type resembling shimpaku. This Spring I noticed the tips of the needles kind of swollen. I woke up one morning and went to check my trees as I always do, and the tree reverted back to juvenile foliage overnight.
I was stunned to say the least because I thought the mature foliage was here to stay. Anyway this pic was taken one year after purchase. You can't stop a good procumbens from growing though, and so I was back to pinching to shape again.
