Pacific Blue Juniper

Attached is a Pacific Blue Juniper that I recently styled. I'm not sure how this variety for bonsai, but my friend who owns a local nursery gave me this for free. I love the movement in the trunk and I think it has potential. Feel free to comment or offer suggestions. I always find this forum to be very imformative and appreciate all the advice I receive.

Sincerely,
Mailman17013

This material looks perfect for a bunjin-style tree. I'd be interested in seeing the trunk from the opposite side, but as you've styled it, it looks like it would go great in a half-moon pot or perhaps a rough, handmade container.

Plucking some of the foliage from the trunk and base of branches would help define the design and create a cleaner, literati look.

Regards,

Matt

Matt,

Attached is a photo from the other side. I've been debating which one to use as the front.

I think you should try to minimize the horizontal and vertical lengths. There is a strong horizontal followed by a strong vertical, and if you can break those up into diagonals or curves, I'm sure you'd have more energy in the design.

You could probably also lose the top couple inches. You have good roots on this side.

Regards,

Matt

P.S. If you are a US mailman, I hope you are enjoying your day off!

I used the first pic. I like it better from that angle. The drop branch seems to better from the first pic. The virt. is self explanatory. Hope you like it.

Bonsaial1,
Thanks for the virtual rendition! It does look amazing and I like the pot as well. Hopefully, I can keep it good and healthy and within a few years it may look like your image.
