Re: Opinions please

Thanks for responses so far. I have two new pics that show the tree a bit better. I hope these work out.

Thanks again for your comments and suggestions.

Re: Opinions please

Quite honestly, I have not yet developed the eye for designing trees in the literati style. Nor have I learned to make decent virtuals.

But I didn't let either deter me - so there!

Attached is a virtual using the right-most trunk. The location and shape of the foliage pad that I drew is probably wrong. There should also probably be additional foliage and/or jin in places. But hopefully it'll give you a sense of the sort of thing you could do with your tree as a literati.

Now that I've stripped the tree down to bare basics, anyone want to show me how I could have improved my virtual, and help KPH find a better design for the tree?

Thanks,
Old Mister

Re: Opinions please

You can tell this tree has great potential by the number of responses and different ideas. You can go so many ways its exciting. Another idea: I can't do virtuals yet--they take me hours--so if you look at my Shore Pine I posted last week and also look at the tree Matt posted on that thread that might stimulate another idea...one you could do and then always change to the other alternatives. That is a pine, so it would be that same but the idea would be to leave all the trunks and main branches, remove most of the foilage and make it look like an old weather beaten juniper. Sort of literati style but much more branching and foilage. You would need to tilt the tree more vertically, like others have suggested.

This tree will be fun to do, no matter which way you go!

Re: Opinions please

Here is a little sketch made with the trunk on the left. I don't think anyone can tell you what can become of this until you get in and thin it out quite a bit. It's really a hedge right now

Stand it up and thin it out, and who knows what you'll find in there. Maybe a frisbee or a tennis ball?

Re: Opinions please

KPH,

I'm sticking with my twin trunk idea. It would be a shame to cut of one of the trunks. You won't find a tree like this too often. Just my two cents...
BTW who's that behind the screen ??

gr. René

Re: Opinions please

I'm sticking to René's plan, too .
I think it would look better, if the foliages flowed into the same direction and if the smaller trunk was in front.
If somebody would pot it up... I have no suitable pot for this one.

Re: Opinions please

Allright, try to do a doubled trunk literati, as the virtuals, but keep in mind that you can always airlayer any trunk... bye
