bonsaiTALK Hint: Did you know you can double click any bonsai term on this page for its definition?

The bottom 1" or so is pea gravel and pumace. Then 30% soil 30% turface and 40% 1/4" Lava rock (Scoria). I'm glad you like the trees. I think they are magnificient and I've never seen a wheel like that one. Maybe if you get a second you could do one of your fancy drawings for me .

Hi Todd, I am not too crazy about the 30% soil (or garden dirt?) in your mix. I don't think that was necessary. But it might be ok anyway.

The Wheel is going to be a famous bonsai! I don't think any drawing would do it justice. But here's a quick sketch anyway, because I enjoyed drawing it. It is a guess really, because I can't tell which way the trunk is curving from your small picture. I would love to do a more professional drawing of it later if you could provide some better pictures of it. Zen said it best I think. It does have a Chinese Zen window feel about it.
Good luck with it!

I love that! It is beautiful. Like I said before One of they guys I went with collected this one, so It isn't mine. I believe/hope the tree makes it, but 30 soil I mean pine bark. The Green house where these trees are located at the moment is fairly close to my work. So every day at lunch and after work I go visit them and foliar feed them...and touch them and tell them to live. Going to Utah to collect can really spoil a person. There are 2 more Junipers that we will get, but we are going to predig, bring in soil and water, then collect next spring. They are amazing and worth the wait.

ps I'll take some more pictures of it with a better background.

Hi Todd, if I were you, I would buy the Wheel from your friend. At any price. Your junipers are pretty good too, just a bit too straight, but would make good bonsai anyway. Take some pictures of your next digging site for us to dream about will ya?

I will next time I go out. The area out there is possibly the most beautiful place I've ever been. I have another short juniper that is actually the best out of the 3 is shorter with more character. i would love to buy the wheel....but I might have to refinance my house to do it.
