A masterpiece of exquisite beauty.I while I dont mean to sound negative, the pot, however, is too small for the trees long term survival. Pines like deep roots, I think you should give it a bigger pot for summer. The pot design is fine, maybe the next size up? In Japan Shohin are often moved to smaller pots for exhibition, for their health they are given larger pots when not being shown. I think your tree was a bargain. I love it to bits.

I do plan to move it into a larger pot very soon.

Thanks,

Tim,
I am not sure why you need to move to a larger pot. I would expect that you would be repotting on a very regular basis- every other year, and that you can provide a humidity table (or tray) and that you can protect from wind and late afternoon sun. I keep hearing people talk about shohin being kept in bigger pots in japan, at the nurseries that I have been to (granted only 9 or 10) the shohin are kept in small pots, if they are repotted for show it is to put them into a vastly more expensive pot that would not be allowed to have a tree in it for long periods of time.

Cheers,
John
