New Eugenia

Well, this is the tree I bought last week, and well, it came in this little pot with all the roots bounded, so I had to take it off there and prune the roots.

Then, Eugenias in Guatemala had been attacked by some bugs (acarus, don't know how to spell it) well, so I cutted off all the sick leaves, and spayed it with a organic insecticide. Then I had it wired, and after a week recovering with tiamine, I just prunned some unwanted branches...

Here is the first pic: (how it came)

Some time after that, and with some branches less, hopping new growth to come out, I believe it will come out with smaller leaves, (well, they were small enough)

I will repot it to a decent pot in some time, but I want it to recover well, before stressing it more (I have stressed it too much) well, now it's getting tiamine (as Luis does with his bugies)... at least the mosquitoes will not bother it, because mosquitoes hate tiamine smell

Then the little violet besides it will someday be an accentplant well... what do you guys think?

Estimado Alberto,

This is a potential and pretty specimen, my suggestion is to reduce the size of the tree, it is to long, when you transplant it reduce the size.

Don't know yet, I like it this high, but it depens on the pot I find...

But I will keep it in that pot for some months, by now I will keep it this way... But thanks, and I will wait for others comment, if it's unanime, I will reduce it

Well, if I decide to cut it where should I cut it?

thanks...

Jose, I agree. This tree needs more taper, more trunk thickness and less height. I would probably chop the trunk to that first branch on the right and wire that up for a new leader. Don't do it now though. Wait til it gets over the bug problem and is putting out new healthy leaves. You need to lengthen your time horizons. It's not uncommon to spend several years to turn nursery stock like this into a bonsai.

Alright, then I should cut it a little, but that much Tony? I think that would be too dramatic.. wouldn't it? well, by now I will keep it like that, but I would like to listen more suggestions about chopping it, I mean where to cut...

Sorry Tony, I was mistaken, I thought you said cutting at the red line, (you weren't saying that right?), but I think I will cut on the green line, I know now you're wondering what is he going to do, but hey there's a cool branch there (in the back) which can be the leader, and the taper wouldn't be that abrupt and irreal so I think now I've got your point... thanks buddies...

Now on the blue line is another option, but the taper would be too abrupt wouldn't it?, well, but now I'm almost convinced on the green one...
