Anxious to see where this one goes. Any Ideas?

I would cut it back hard and see if you can get it pop below that branch. If so trunk chop back to the first branch, shorten it and make it the new apex. Later remove the roots on the left and maybe graft new ones to fill out the base. You could end up with a very nice shohin.

If it were mine I would develope a sort of bunjin cascade out of it. I would also reduce the dead branch into a smaller jin. Very interesting tree and I think you should stick with its uniwue character instead of forcing it to be something it isn't. Just my 2 cents.
