This isn't very good material. It has poor roots and uninspired branching. You could cut it back to a single branch, probably the rightmost one in the second photo and stick it in the ground

There is an article in the wiki called How to Choose Nursery Material, well worth reading. This plant would probably be in the (Not) category.

The best advice comes at the end:

"If you can’t see the tree in it then DON’T BUY IT!", and from your last couple bonsai posts here I suspect you can't yet see the tree in the material you're buying.

Good luck,

Matt

I understand. The best thing these two trees can teach you is how to keep a container plant alive. Learn to monitor soil moisture, know when to water and how. That's probably worth the price of admission.

Maybe you can use the Buddy feature in your control panel to find a more experienced person to take with you on your next nursery trip. Or perhaps their is a club in the area?

An experienced pair of eyes can help a lot.

Regards,

Matt
