I'm always working on the canopy. Mainly trying to increase ramification so as to make it a winter display tree also. Normally it keeps it's foliage year round, but I've learned that a silverberry can be defoliated in the fall, and have a new set of leaves in the spring. And hopefully, flowers and berries in the summer and autumn
