Re: My wife did this
Hi,
Why did she do it? to increase foliage? And why did you not wire more of the tree and make some kind of plateaus in the foliage? Is it too young to do that? Is it also a juniper procumbens nana? It looks like the one I have and I am thinking should i remove more foliage or just leave it as it is Regards Ronald |

Re: My wife did this
I like the shape. When I have had junipers that look like this, I have had problems because all the growth tends to be way out on on the ends so its really difficult to form pads or clouds of foilage. However, I have a windswept that I havent posted, but i cut it way back in early spring and now I am getting a lot of back budding so hopefully I can chase the foilage back closer to the main branches.
So I won't say who is right or wrong!! Maybe wire all the little branches into pads and then keep them pinched often so they will fill out. |

Re: My wife did this
Hi bq,
first let me say , I am not a master just a mere beginer. I would wire the juniper more upright, maybe slanting/ windswept, then perhaps jin the uppermost branch to about 1/4 as it is now. pinching and pruning will produce more foliage in time. I hope one of our more experienced members will pick up on this thread and perhaps give you more or better info. good luck .

Re: My wife did this
hi there hey hey tell me did yu wife really saw a tree in nature .Bonsai it to reproduce trees in like they are in nature, this little seedling is not suitable for the wiring yu have done , leave it in the container and try another more mature tree , then look for pictures and reall tree image and try to reroduce them with that tree .Then its what we call bonsai ![]() |
