My Spruce

Here is my Spruce that was given to me about nine months ago also.

This is the before pinching, I didn't have an after the pinching photo. Does anyone have a spare digital camera that they want to donate?....

It is about five years old, from soil to apex about a foot high. I want to keep it about this big and no bigger just because.....any thoughts?

Aloha,
H

P.S. I know I know......Ugly POT!!!!.......*slapping his hand*......BAD APPRENTICE......Bad Bad...No no!.....

Harold,
are you sure that's a spruce?? Because it looks a lot like a chamaecyparis lawsonia elwoodii to me...

unless they are called spruce where you come from though... perhaps others can confirm?

looks nice though.

Regards,

T.B.,

The funniest thing is that this is the one tree that I never really researched and found out for sure what it was....I am actually quite embarrassed by that.....if it is a chamaecyparis lawsonia elwoodii What is the common name?

Thaks,
H

Harold,

don't be embarassed, looks like I wasn't spot on either: it should be lawsoniana not lawsonia

If it's an elwood var., the common name would be Elwood cypress I think.

If it's NOT an elwood var., and is just Chamaecyparis Lawsoniana, I think it would be a lawson cypress (or possibly a Port Orford cedar, just to confuse things...).

Might just wanna wait for others' words though before you carve a stone nameplate or anything...

Regards,

PS 100th post. whew, only seems like I reg'd yesterday.

Not a spruce! Definitely a false cypress (Chamaecyparis of some kind)!

Regards,

Matt

Interesting colours in the foliage, the new growth looks almost blue, or is that the camera I like the pot too.

Cant tell much about the tree as it is hard to make out the trunk line, good luck with it and thanks for showing it to us

Cheers
