My first forest, any mistakes?

Hi everyone,

I had some time today and went to a nursery and bought 9 Acacia galpinii(pretty much the only trees there), and decided to try a forest planting. I've read in a book a forest should have uneven number of trees and should'nt be in a straight line

Should I rather grow a real forest in my garden with these trees or is this good enough too keep in a pot?

Hi Nico,

Can you take photoīs of all sides, thatīll make it easier to determine wherter the trees arenīt alligned and if the outher trees are slightly moving away in a slanted possition.

First thing which is easily vissible, you forgot the negative space on either the right or left side of the pot. This isnīt the final pot I quess, so thats easily changeable.

Wessel

A couple very small trees in the back would add depth, but IMHO very nicely done.

Hi Nico, I agree with Pootsie's comments too. It needs a few more trees in the back for depth. Either that or maybe reduce to just 3 or 5 trees of different sizes and put on a larger flatter tray. I love the feeling of the wide open African plain with just a few scattered Acacia trees in the distance. This image might be easier to create than the crowded forest type of planting that you are aiming for.
Hi Pootsie, nice to see your comments again. It had been awhile since you have checked in here. I was wondering what happenned to you.
With regards,
Si

Great start Nico! This will mature nicely with time.

Thanks alot for the input,

I've added the sideview, and Wessel, I didn't know about the negative space(back to the beginners Q&A for me), but looking at a couple of forest images, I can see its very NB. I'll definately add the smaller trees to the background. And Si, I think my next effort will definitely be the wide open African plain look you commented on, I also think it will look great.

Group suggestion

Maybe a bit too symetrical and unnatural.
