Will

Not giving an identification at all. Was just trying to give the right name for the Tiger Bark Ficus.

Okay let's clear this up Ronny, as much as I hate to educate you....

Ficus retusa `Green Gem' is a patented cultivar (Plant Patent No. 5900) which looks much like `Nitida', except it is more vigorous, has coarser leaves, and grows much more symmetrically.

Ficus retusa `Nitida', the Cuban laurel fig, has a long history of use as and interior tree. Although it has leaves which are similar in size to the weeping fig, its branches are much stiffer and lack the weeping habit.

Ficus Retusa Microcarpa is what is commonly called the Tigerbark or Chinese Banyan, please reference Jerry's Page here. You can also see the difference between Nitida and Microcarpa here.

This information is of course based on my very limited experience and the tags on all my figs.

Everything about figs

Children children....

everyone take a deep breath.

Ron as far as I know Nitida is a different tree to tigerbark. I could be wrong, but the attached is a close up of a nitida (I believe) that I have in training. This tree lacks the white marks that are found on the tigerbark (see second photo). Also you will find that the leaves are different.

BTW nice tree!

Will, kindly knock it off now. I have received 3 private emails from different individuals in the past week. I have suggested privately that you simply add a name to an ignore list if you have a problem.

The part listed in bold is not acceptable. It's goading, and it assumes the worst. If you want to ask Ron if he is sure about the species, that is one thing, but you are looking for a fight. It's no secret that you and Ron aren't getting along, but this is becoming tiresome for everyone and I don't have the stomach for much more of it.

Will, if you can't restrain yourself, please add that name to your ignore list. If I have to do it, it will be permanent, and I will do it if there is another of these flameouts between you two, and I don't care who started it.

This message is public because we already did the private thing a couple of times. I also need to assure the folks that have spoken up, and the probably two dozen that haven't that this is going to change.

Regards,

Matt
