My 1st Demo - Very Old Corky Bark Black Pine

Hi This it the work I did at a local club demo night for a triple demonstration. The first pics are my preparation of the tree. I pulled out a lot of dead needles (picture before this not taken .... Bugger!!!). The following photos show an initial cleanup and the application of wire without styling the tree in anticipation of the Demo... total prep work = 8 hours !!

The Demo...

The branches of the corky bark Black Pine were tweaked multiple times over about an hour to put them in place due to the brittle nature of this trees branches.

The final product !!!

Hope you like the end product.... It has some flaws, but this is what makes the tree unique and also helps make it look old.

White pine demo as well - wire compaction

I also talked about branch structure and how to condense branching on a tree. Also I talked about keeping as much as possible on the tree and only removing branchlets when you have re-grown the perfect branch to replace it to maintain the trees appearance.

I love to teach bonsai to people and I also work on a lot of other peoples trees to get more experience. Luckily, I am getting a reputation now that makes it easier to work on good quality trees. I aim to be a major Australian demonstrator in years to come ! But hopefully I will not bore people to sleep !!!
